With 20 miles of shoreline, Raccoon Lake
with its speed restrictions offers a fisherman's paradise
with bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish.
Just 20 minutes from Centralia, Carlyle
Lake is the largest manmade lake in Illinois. Ideal not
only for fishing and water sports, if also offers beautiful
sailing waters. It was host for the 1994 US Olympic Festival
Sailing Competition and offers sail boat racing almost
every weekend throughout the summer. Bird watchers can
view bald eagles, blue herons, as well as numerous species
of shorebirds and songbirds. |
Rend Lake is just 30 minutes south
of Centralia and besides boating and fishing, offers
horseback riding, 7 camping areas, trails and overnight
cottages.
Both Rend Lake and Carlyle Lake offer
exceptional sites for RV's. For the avid hunter, game
available includes duck, goose, quail, wild turkey and
deer all within a short driving distance. |
